Lucas SoCal Regional final

 

The Lucas Oil Off Road SoCal Regional series presented by Kartek held it’s final event Oct 10 at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park. The unusually warm weather kept many fans away but the heat didn’t bother the racers who provided plenty of hard fought racing action.

 

 

John Gable (98) won the Pac Springs Pro Open by driving from ninth on the first lap and taking second place by lap three. It would be lap six before making the pass on Cory Winner (67) for the lead. Winner was able to hold onto second with Broc Dickerson (23) finishing third.

Darren Hardesty Jr (99) stood on top of the podium in the AMA Plastics Pro Buggy race. Hardesty shared the lime light with Bud Ward (17) and Eliott Watson (3).

Dustin Nelson (94) won the Weller Racing Sr1 class after taking over the lead on lap three from Scott Webster (42). Once out front Nelson drove his Yamaha powered Sr1 to the finish line. Brian Deegan (10) was in contention but had to settle for second. Corry Weller (1) was a close third.

Brock Livesy (338) started his McKenzie’s Limited Buggy race in fourth and took seven laps before moving into the number one spot. Broc Dickerson (384) was the early leader but had some trouble on lap seven but ended the race in seventh. Kyle Knott (306) finished second and Taylor Wood (327) rounded out the podium spots.

David Mayhew (921) took home the race win in the Production 1000 class but second place finisher Cody Rahders (916) was the one to watch. Due to a qualifying error Rahders started at the back of the 16 car field. Once racing started he quickly moved through the pack and by the seventh lap of the 13 lap event was challenging for the lead. Mayhew was on the top of his game and was able to hold off Rahders for the win. Rahders was second and Westin Aberle (912) crossed over third.

Hailie Deegan (538) won the Ttitan Electric sponsored Modified Kart class with Chris Nunes (502) second and Trey Gibbs third.

There were 10 entered in the Mickey Thompson Mini Stock that was won by Scott Johnson (70). Johnson went wire-to-wire in teh race with Ryan Schank (8) a close second. Jason Milligan (52) was third.

Jeremy Merrell (977) bested the field of 12 GMZ Unlimited UTV / Walker Evans Racing RZRE event. Ray Bullock (435) finished second with Jake Shirey (727) third.

Kipp Mickels (94) won overall in the Mini Open / Open V8 /Desert Buggies / Mini Lite combined classes. Ryan Frisby (28) was second and Brent Fouch (21) also shared the podium. Nick Schons won the Open Mini class event.

Jake Capriotti (1411) saw the checkers before Chris Livingston (1492) in the Beehive Championship after having to chase Livingston for six laps before taking the top spot. Crossing over third was Ryan Agius (1448).

Broedy Graham (266) won the AM Ortega Jr1 Kart race after dogging early leader Holden Heitritter (212) for nine of the ten lap race. Graham made the pass on the last lap and allowed Luke Knupp (1) to improve his position to second. Heitritter finished third.

It took two laps before Mia Chapman (437) took control of the Jr2 Kart event. Once out front she headed straight to the checkers. Bronsen Chairamonte (474) was second and early leader Koen Crawford (448) finished third.
