GBC Round 8

Round 8 of the GBC UTV/Quad/Trophy Kart Short Course Series was held at Glen Helen Raceway on Oct 22. A benefit for racers was the event was held under overcast skies providing combustion engines with cool dense air that improves horsepower, and the contestants took advantage of it. Event sponsor GBC Performance tires are part of Greenball Corporation which provides a wide range of tire sizes and treads to the recreation and farming markets. The next scheduled GBC event will be on November 19, 2022.

 

The hard-charging Hudson Nicot was the lone entry in UTV 170-250cc 8-14 YRS class, then came back out with the UTV 170cc 9-12 YR BEG class to finish third in both of those motos. Desiree De La Cruz would win moto one with Jason Baer finishing second. Then in moto two Baer would win over De La Cruz.

In the UTV 170cc 6-12 YRS, Nov action Landon Morrow took the win in moto one over Ryder Barnaby then in moto two the two switched positions.

 

George Llamosas #688 was second in moto one, then won the next round

Cruz Worley proved to be hard to beat in moto one of the UTV Prod 1000 action as George Llamosas would find out, finishing second ahead of Cash Morris. In the second race of the day, Worley DNS and Llamosas would take the checkers with Syd Woods second and Draxton Ruane third.

 

Joshua Guillen #26 went 1-3 on the day

UTV Stock action proved to be a match-up between Joshua Guillen and George Llamosas. In the first race, Guillen took the win over Llamosas and Brian Ferrell was third. When they came out for moto two it was Llamosas taking the checkers first with Ferrell edging out Guillen for second.

Kaleb Montes and Karsyn Ferrell provided the UTV Sportsman Open action with Montes winning in both races over Ferrell. Brian Ferrell had entered but DNS both motos.

The finishing order in UTV Youth 170 6-8 Beg class showed a lot of action. Aiden Coots would win moto one with Brianna Walton second and Daniel Dominguez third. In the second moto Dominguez took the checkers first with Landon Holtz second and Cassidy Walton third. The first moto winner Coots, finished fifth.

 

Desiree De La Cruz #108 went 2-1 in the UTV Youth Stock 170 class

Jason Baer took the first UTV Youth Stock 170 win with Desiree De La Cruz second and Daniel Dominguez third. When the checkers came out for moto two it was De La Cruz taking the win over Baron Daniel and Daniel Dominguez was third.

Maverick Openshaw was the lone Modified Kart entry but provided fans with lap after lap of high-speed precision handling.

J2 Trophy Kart competition proved to be an equal match as Kylee Collinsworth won the first race with Charlie Carty second. In the second race, they switched positions giving both a win on the day. Joe Collinsworth was consistent by crossing over third in both races.

Gilbert Flores #303 won the first Quad Expert then DNS moto two.

Gilbert Flores would hold off Ralph Rodriguez in the Quad Expert first moto then Flores DNS moto two and Rodriguez took the win over Tyler Falinesky. Joshua Picos was third in moto one and DNS moto two.

Devin Vestal #218 won both Quad Int races

Devin Vestal won both Quad Int class motos. In the first moto, Vestal crossed over in front of Randy Falinesky, then Falinesky was third in moto two behind Lance Lewis.

The Quad 250 class saw heated action from Zaine Flagg and Connor Hastings as the two would end the day both with a win, Flagg won moto one with Hastings taking the win in moto two. Billy Porter was third in both motos. These two would again line up in the Quad 90cc race with Hastings taking both wins after Flagg DNF moto one then coming back to finish second later.

Vallen Harris was the lone Quad 30+ All entry. Jasper Hill was the sole entry in the Quad 70cc event. Carley Vestal was the lone Quad Beginner.
