The Giant RV Short Course Series at Glen Helen Raceway eight race series put race 3 & 4 in the books June 13-14. This year the series has added Pro Buggies, 1450, Super Buggies, Mini Stock, Pro Lite and Class 11 to their schedule and the last rounds had 31 separate classes as the series has kept the grass root classes for Youth UTV, Trophy Karts, and Quads along with many other UTV and Quads classes providing various forms of racing action for those in the grandstands. Two more weekends are set September 12-13 with the final December 12-13. So with half of the season in the books a quick look at overall points seemed in order.
The Youth 1000 has 13 entries with Jaxon Cotter tied with Ryland Gaughan both earning 89 points. Third is Alex Ranuio with 68 points. At Saturday’s race Gaughan crossed under the checkers both motos ahead of Cotter. Then on Sunday Ranuio took the overall with Gaughan second and Cotter third. Mike Childress has the mid season lead in the UTV Prod NA 1000 class with 86 points over Ryland Gaughan’s 74 points. Alex Raniuo is third with 63. At Saturdays race Childress dominated with repeat wins then on Sunday Alex Ranuio won overall with Mike Spagnola second and Childress third. In the UTV Stock Turbo class Elizabeth Knight leads the series and captured overall both Rounds 3 & 4. Cameron Machek holds a tight lead over Brad Lejcar 47-42 in the UTV Stock class. Machek took second on Saturday to Kevin Kuenzie then came back to overall on Sunday. In the UTV Sportsman Open class series there are two points leaders as A J Spagnola and Haley Tygret both have 47 points. Calvin Odell is close with 40 points. Over the weekend the two leaders traded overall positions as Spagnola won over Tygret then the following day Tygret won over Spagnola.
Stock Mini points leader is Justin Miller who also was the lone class entry over the weekend. Sebastian Palmese leads the Pro Lite class as the only class entry. Andy Hill is in control of the Odyssey class with 5 entries listed. Over the weekend Hill managed wins over Garrad Oldham on Saturday but Oldham took the overall Sunday. In Class 11 Jillyan Veenstra is points leader.
Gage Skutt has the points lead in UTV 170-250cc 8-14 YRS series with 94 earned over Tanner Hodge’s 62. Wyatt Mayfield has earned 45. Mayfield took repeat wins in Round 3 then was third on Sunday which saw Roxen Brooks take the checkers with Skutt second on Sunday. Zeppelin Ledbetter took wins in both rounds and sets on top of the UTV Youth 170 6-8 BEG class which has 21 entries. Knoxx Salvatore is second and Wyat Dulgerian is third. Mason Dulgerian is the current points UTV 170cc 9-12 BEG leader with 85 points over Phillip Pinhero’s 70 and Dominic Spagnola is third with 63. Gage Skutt is in fifth after having repeat wins in Rounds 3 & 4. In the UTV 170cc 6-12 YRS NOV class Brandon Robinson is holding lead over Ean Corona 89-69 pints earned. Over the weekend it was fourth place overall Roxen Brooks taking repeat wins. In the Plaris Razor class Ryan Currie is the current point’s leader and also won both days during Rounds 3 & 4. With 17 entries in the UTV Youth Stock 170 class it is Brandon Robinson leading Ean Corona 82-72 for the season. Robinson maintained the lead with consistency over the weekend as Roxen Brooks won Saturday and Ean Corona won Sunday.
Taking the checkers in both days Mod Trophy Kart racing was current point’s leader Leevi Silvola. Currently in second is Penelope Scafuto and Kalervo Silvola is third. Jack Gillaspy is the current UTV 570 Open leader and showed his winning ways in Round 3 but had to settle for second the following day to Zepplin Ledbetter, who is second in points. Third is Kynlee Voigt. Axel Lawrence is the current Jr 1 Trophy Karts point’s leader but might want to watch out for Penelope Scafuto who dominated both Rounds in the two day race. Scafuto’s weekend wins moved her into fourth in the points. In Jr 2 Trophy Karts Gavin Everett leads Garrett Everett with 84 to 67 points. The points closed a little as Liam Sheely won overall on Saturday with Bubba Thomas taking the win in Round 4.
Wyatt Cox is leading the Quad 250 class over Jasper Hill with Fox Cheyne third in the series. Cox was dominate in both Rounds 3 & 4. Gilbert Flores took repeat wins at the last Quad Expert event and now leads the series over Anthony Baxter with Zachary Yarbrough third. Vallen Harris is leading the Quad 30+ All class after winning both days in Rounds 3 & 4. Leading the Quad Intermediate class is Carly Vestal who also put in repeat wins last race. Coy Bradstreet is currently second. Jillyan Veenstra is on top of the Quad Novice class with Rob Parsons second in points. Veenstra won the Saturday race then was second to Parsons on Sunday. Jack Amerio took the win in Round 3 over Dakayla Clegg but Clegg came to win the next round. Kali Barker went 3-2 on the weekend but held control over the class series. Jameson Lieberg has earned the top spot in the Quad 90 class after placing 1-2 on the weekend. Ryleigh Amerio is second in points with Wayne Ward third. Kennedy Barker was the lone Quad 70 entry and so leads the class points. Colton Flores is leading the Quad 50 class over Kasyn Lieberg. Flores took the round 3 win then trailed Lieberg on Sunday.
Having a dominate weekend in the Mod Polaris was Jett Eimer posting class wins both days. Eimer leads the class over Caydence McWilliams with Cash Ferguson currently third.
The series has a Sierra Class which Paul Pursley won Saturday then had to take second Sunday to Austin Pursley. On points, Paul Pursley will go into the final events leading the series.
