March is Nomination Month

The road to the Hall of Fame begins with a nomination. Who do you believe belongs in the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame? – now is the time to consider their accomplishments and achievements and begin putting together your nomination.

The process is not hard but can seem daunting if you are new to it. We’re here to help smooth that process by providing you with resources along the way.

Two factors play the biggest role in a nomination – the first is about the nominee:  To be considered for nomination, a person must have been involved in the sport for at least fifteen years and have made a significant contribution to off-road, including any of the following:

  • Business development
  • Design and engineering
  • Philanthropy/Charity
  • Exceptional performance
  • Event promotion
  • Inspiration to others
  • Advocacy and activism
  • Positive representation of off-road sports

The second factor is about the nominator. Anyone can nominate someone for the Hall of Fame, but you must have a current ORMHOF membership.

Categories of nomination include:

  • Competition (Motorcycle, UTV/ATV, Vehicle)
  • Advocate
  • Industry
  • Media
  • Influencer

“A typical year will bring in forty to fifty nominations each year,” said ORMHOF Chairman Mark McMillin, “Our bylaws allow for three to seven individuals to be inducted each year, although there are exceptions – like 2024, in accordance with our bylaws, we inducted 12 new members who had received over 2/3rds votes by the Voting Committee.”

Nomination information is available HERE, but nominations won’t open online until March 1st and will close at midnight (Pacific-time) on March 31st.

After received, the packets are provided for review to a Voting Committee of 21 comprised of industry professionals, current ORMHOF inductees, and members of the Board of Directors. Each Voting Committee member has several weeks to review before meeting in person to discuss and vote for the new class of inductees.

Voting committee members are anonymous to each other until they enter the room on meeting day. Chairman McMillin stated, “The process is taken very seriously; after discussing each candidate, a blind ballot is submitted. Nominees receiving votes from no less than two-thirds of the voting committee members are presented to the Board of Directors for ratification.”

The Class of 2025 of Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame Inductees will be announced mid-summer and inducted at the Annual Induction Gala. The Gala will be held on Sunday, November 2 at the South Point Hotel in Las Vegas, just prior to the opening of the SEMA Show. Tickets and a group hotel rate will be available for all Gala attendees.

“The annual ORMHOF Gala is off-road’s Biggest Night of the Year,” McMillin said, “We celebrate a who’s who in the sport of off-road. It’s a night to recognize the achievements of many of the people, past and present, who inspire future generations of the off-road community.”
