April is nomination month for the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame.
Anyone can nominate someone for the Hall of Fame.
To be considered for nomination, a person must have been involved in the sport for at least fifteen years and have made a significant contribution to off-road, including any of the following: Business development, design and engineering, philanthropy, exceptional performance, event promotion, inspiration to others, advocacy and activism, and positive representation.
Categories of nomination include Competition (Motorcycle, UTV/ATV, Vehicle), Advocate, Industry, Journalism, and Influencer.
“We typically receive between forty and fifty nominations each year,” said ORMHOF chairman Mark McMillin. “ORMHOF by-laws allow for between three and seven individuals to be inducted each year. It’s important that each nomination packet provide information that represents the individual’s contributions to off-road in a concise and organized fashion.”
Nomination packets must be completed and submitted online by April 30.
After the packets are received, a voting committee comprised of industry professionals, current ORMHOF inductees, and ORMHOF board members have several weeks to review the packets before meeting in person to discuss and vote for the ORMHOF Class of 2022.
“This process is taken very seriously,” chairman McMillin explained, “The voting committee members do not know who else is on the committee until they walk into the room on meeting day. After discussing each of the candidates, a blind vote is taken. Nominees receiving votes from at least two-thirds of the committee members are considered for induction. The results are sent to the ORMHOF board of directors for review and formal ratification.”
The ORMHOF Class of 2022 will be announced mid-summer and tickets to the 2022 Induction & Awards Gala presented by 4 Wheel Parts will go on sale at that time. This year’s Gala will be held on Sunday, October 30 at the South Point in Las Vegas. This is the Sunday before The SEMA Show. A group hotel rate is available at the South Point for Gala attendees.
“The annual ORMHOF Gala is off-road’s biggest night of the year,” Mark McMillin said. “The Gala celebrates a who’s who in the sport of off-road. It’s a night to recognize the achievements of many of the people, past and present, who help to inspire future generations of the off-road community. The Gala is made possible through the support of 4 Wheel Parts, the South Point, and our many wonderful sponsors and donors.”
